People who do a lot of work in a field always opt for the larger tractors, but that's not to say that others who don't earn a living with farmwork should not have an apt machine. Smaller garden tractors can serve some really good purposes on a homestead or on your regular property. You may need one of these if you are into DIY property maintenance or gardening. Check out some of the things you can achieve with a good garden tractor and the right attachments.

Keep your driveway cleared during the winter.

If you live in an area that gets a lot of snow in the winter, having a garden tractor around can make all the difference. You can invest in snowplow attachments for these tractors that attach to the front of the equipment so you can keep your own driveway cleared and maybe even help out nearby neighbors.

Prepare the soil for a flower or vegetable garden.

You can find all the attachments you could ever need for gardening that are designed for garden tractors. Plows, tillers, and other attachments make these littler tractors ideal if you are implementing a flower or vegetable garden.

Haul heavy materials around on the property.

Pick up a small trolley or wagon attachment for your garden tractor and haul everything from fallen branches and debris to firewood around your property without an issue. These little powerful machines generally have high-horsepower motors and just as much power for towing as larger machines.

Aerate your lawn to encourage growth and greening.

Pick up an aerator attachment, go over your lawn in the spring, and wait for your lawn to look far more healthy. The longer a stand of grass is allowed to grown and reproduce year after year, the more roots develop in the upper layers of the dirt. Over time, these dense root systems can actually crowd out vital moisture and nutrients. Aeration can help.

Mow down heavier fields of grass.

Maybe there is an area of your property that you normally don't mow simply because the grass is thicker and contains more thistles and heavy weeds. You may not be able to tackle these with your regular lawnmower, but you can if you have a garden tractor with a mowing deck or small finishing mower attachment. Garden tractors can also be useful if you have a larger area to mow than most.
